Prepare before you need the heat

Furnace Maintenance in Las Vegas

Your furnace may sit untouched from March until the first chilly night in November. Then the thermostat clicks over to Heat and you find out how it held up.

A seasonal maintenance visit from Frosty Desert gives you a chance to have the system looked at before you rely on it, raise anything you’ve noticed and learn what to watch for between visits.

Why timing matters in the desert

Las Vegas afternoons can stay mild well into fall, which makes it easy to put off thinking about heat. But desert nights cool off quickly once the sun goes down, and low-lying neighborhoods and higher western areas like Summerlin can feel it sooner than the airport reading suggests.

Scheduling maintenance before you need steady heat means any concerns can be addressed on your timeline, instead of on the first cold morning when many homeowners are calling at once.

Questions worth bringing to your visit

You know your home better than anyone. Mention anything you’ve noticed, even if it seems minor.

Weak airflow

Are some vents blowing less than they used to, or are certain rooms slower to warm up?

New or recent noise

Did you hear anything unusual at startup, while running or after it shut off at the end of last season?

Uneven rooms

Which rooms run colder than the rest of the house, and has that changed?

Thermostat changes

Has the thermostat been replaced or reprogrammed since the furnace last ran?

Between visits

Safe filter care

Filter care is one of the few things most homeowners can do themselves—when the filter is safely accessible.

A clean filter helps airflow, but it isn’t a diagnosis. If the furnace isn’t heating or is behaving abnormally, book a repair visit instead.

  • Use the right filterUse the filter type and size specified for your equipment rather than guessing from the old one.
  • Follow the instructionsCheck and replace it according to the equipment instructions. Homes with pets or more dust may need more frequent checks.
  • Stay where it’s safeOnly change filters at an accessible return grille or furnace location. Don’t climb into an attic or open sealed panels to reach one.
  • Note what you seeIf the filter clogs unusually fast or airflow stays weak after a change, mention it to your technician.

What a maintenance visit covers depends on your system

Furnaces differ by type, age and configuration, and the work performed differs by system and the service you select. Ask what your visit includes when you book, and ask your technician to explain anything they recommend.

Maintenance gives you an opportunity to identify service needs early, but it can’t guarantee your furnace won’t break down. Parts can still wear out or fail between visits.

Furnace not working right now?

If your furnace won’t start, blows cold air or keeps shutting off, that’s an active problem, not routine maintenance. Describe the symptoms when you book so the right visit is arranged.
