Warm air from the head
The unit runs, but the air coming out isn’t cool or the room keeps getting warmer.
When a mini-split stops cooling the room it serves, you notice immediately—especially if it’s the only system in a bedroom, an addition or a converted garage.
Frosty Desert repairs ductless systems for homeowners in Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas and nearby communities. A technician finds the cause and explains it before work starts. Appointment availability depends on current scheduling.

Telling us exactly what you notice helps the technician start in the right place.

You can barely feel air at the head, or the fan seems to be working harder than it should.
Rattling, buzzing, clicking or grinding from the indoor unit that wasn’t there before.
Moisture or drips from the indoor unit, or a wet streak on the wall below it.
Frost or ice where the lines meet the unit, or on the indoor unit itself.
Nothing happens when the remote or thermostat calls for cooling, or it starts and shuts off quickly.
These are the only checks we recommend homeowners try. Everything else belongs to a technician.
Opening a filter cover the manufacturer designed for owners to use is fine when you follow the instructions and switch the unit off where they say to. Don’t remove electrical or service panels, take equipment apart, handle refrigerant lines or connections, or keep resetting a tripped breaker. Electrical and refrigerant work belongs to a technician.
If water is dripping from the indoor unit, turn the system off at the remote or thermostat if it’s safe to do so and book a visit. A bucket under the head only catches the water. A blocked or disconnected drain line is one possible cause, but water can come from other problems too, and a technician needs to find the actual cause.
If you see ice on the head or the lines, don’t chip or scrape it. Turn the unit off if that’s safe, let the ice melt and have the system looked at—ice usually points to an airflow or refrigerant problem.
If you see smoke or smell something burning, turn the system off only if you can do it safely, leave the area and call 911 or the fire department if there’s any sign of fire. Don’t restart it until it’s been checked. If a breaker trips again, don’t keep resetting it.
